For now, the transmission will be kept stock. So far, the stock clutch has survived quite well under mild boost. However, it will not survive moderate to high boost, and will have to be replaced in the near future. Once the block is tested, the transmission will be addressed. Chances are, I will be looking at an aluminum flywheel and a good clutch. My top choice:

  • Luk / SPEC Aluminum Flywheel
  • Luk / SPEC Modular Clutch

The stock flywheel weighs in at 22lb. The Luk / SPEC flywheel weighs in at 15lb. The pressure plate features a 34% increase in clamping force, a 20% increase in damping force, and 43% reduction in pedal effort over conventional pressure plates. A limited slip differential will be considered once high power levels are achieved. Stock axles and transmission internals will be retained. A short shifter will also be installed, including polyurethane shifter bushings.
